What should I do in the event of illness or an accident abroad?

If you have an accident or fall ill, see a doctor first and make sure you get well again. If you have had outpatient treatment in a doctor's surgery or hospital, submit your bills for medical, drug and hospital costs to your own health/accident insurance (e.g. health insurance company) for settlement after you return from your trip.

If you have/had an inpatient stay in hospital, please contact your own health/accident insurance company (e.g. health insurance fund) if a cost approval is required. If your health/accident insurance company does not issue a cost approval abroad, please contact the ERV Alarm Centre on +41 848 801 803 (emergency number) or +800 8001 8003 (freephone number, not available in all countries).
